A tribute to someone we love dearly.

I’d like start off by saying thank you for visiting the memorial page for our beloved family member Joyce O’Mara. I would like to think that Joyce would be looking down on us right now with a sense of pride and a full heart knowing just how much she was loved by all generations of her family.

Joyce (Mum/Nanny/Nan-Nan) was a woman of true principle and courage - always doing what she believed to be the right thing to look after her family, friends and those around her. Joyce never let anyone go without and went above and beyond to always take care of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family beyond; whether this would be as simple as a making you a cup of tea or providing you with a seat pride of place on her sofa to sit and chat about whats troubling you - she was always there for you.

Joyce never judged and always said “do what makes you happy” - as long as you were safe, had clothes on your back and had food in your stomach she was happy (saying that - although, even if you said you were full to the brim she would still offer you a sandwich and make you look in the fridge in case you changed your mind!). I know the family will laugh when I say “fridge pickers wear bigger knickers!” which is a magnet she had on her fridge - as an adult I can now appreciate how true that is!

It is from her that our family have learnt how to stay strong even during the darkest times and I will always be greatful to her for being the glue that held all of the family together. I will forever cherish the memories we shared and I will miss nothing more than hearing your voice, songs and stories. I love you eternally Nanny. May you rest peacefully and please do give all our love to friends and family who have left us too soon. I hope one day I can be half of the amazing person you always were.
